Andrew Agutos is a multidisciplinary artist taking a poetic approach between abstract and figurative—non-chronologically creating series of paintings that capture the energy and essence of the personal and the universal. Often titled with poems, his works form an introspective visual / written library recording depths of human emotion and snapshots of cool, connecting the dots between dreams, design, desire, cities, love, luxury.
Unbound by a singular style or medium, Andrew’s practice communicates through a distinct language of color with nods to art history, the internet, rap music and fashion. Having an affinity for iconic imagery, he has designed and photographed for several fashion brands and figures—work that directly informs his painting and visual storytelling.
Although enamored with beauty and the allure of consumer culture, his work subtly questions and critiques these very systems. Each canvas resonates within a matrix of symbolism and intentional palettes, whether piercing, melancholy or ethereal.
